For the first time in the Resident Evil saga, 'Partner Zapping' allows you to control two characters at the same time.

Young S.T.A.R.S. cop Rebecca Chambers - dispatched to investigate serial murders in the Raccoon City area - is stranded after a helicopter crash. Former Navy Commander Billy Coen is an accused on the run, whom Rebecca meets after the truck accident from which he escapes. Partner Zapping works wonderfully: with the push of a button, you can switch between characters - whether they are together in a room or far from each other. The C Stick allows you to maintain control over the passive character, so they will automatically attack any threats present, and you can swap items between Rebecca and Billy (including 'shuffled' items that only Rebecca can combine) if they are close enough to each other. This dual character system makes you even more captive of those typical 'Resident Evil' scares.

Not only will you fret with worry when your small team is split up, but you will shake with dread in certain situations, when your character is not equipped with the right equipment to cope with it, or when the game forces you. to play with Rebecca when having a beefy hero like Billy would be much more comfortable. And there are even more reasons than before to have the hairs standing on their arms. On two discs, Resident Evil Zero locks you in crazy trains infested with moaning undead; sends you to rooms full of possessed crows that flap their wings like madmen; and gives you surprise dates with some of the most ugly and biggest T-Virus monsters the series has offered so far.

The graphics aren't as impressive as they were in Resident Evil earlier this year - they are more. The details are incredibly good, with the flickering candles, the dancing shadows, the curtains gently stirred by the breeze rushing through broken tiles, and the rain bouncing off objects and backdrop. Each new piece is a feast for the eyes: even if with the use which is made of camera angles to increase the effect of terror (for example, the one which scrutinizes you from outside through a window), it is possible that you do not notice it, so much you will cover your eyes with your hands so as not to see it.

Every nook and cranny of Resident Evil Zero means fear, a breathtaking new visual ordeal, once again superbly used music and soundtrack (or, at times, utter silence) to turn the heat up a bit more. The best Resident Evil yet? Definitely!
