Nine years after Metroid Fusion, Metroid Dread celebrates the return of intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran in a nervous exploration and action game set in the heart of a hostile planet.
You play as Samus, clad in tapered armor capable of deploying a deadly arsenal, initially sent deep into the planet ZDR on a scouting mission. When it goes wrong, you must escape and reach the surface. Explore every nook and cranny of this planet, slaughter enemy creatures at full speed, infiltrate dangerous areas and collect abilities that allow you to access new environments! Combining 2D exploration and dynamic 3D passages, Samus is more agile than ever but for the first time has to face new enemies who seem invulnerable at first glance ... The prey, now, is you.

Bounty hunter Samus Aran returns to service After the events of Metroid Fusion (Game Boy Advance, 2002), Samus Aran is sent to the planet ZDR to investigate mysterious parasites. There, she is hunted down by dreadfully intelligent robots, the E.M.M.Is, who can take her out in one fell swoop. For the first time in the Metroid saga, the hunt is reversed: Samus will have to be discreet and flee the danger until she is able to face it, while keeping a single objective in mind, to complete his mission !
Welcome to the mazes of planet ZDR
The Metroid saga, at the origin of the metroidvania genre: in this kind of 2D game, you lead your heroine in a labyrinthine world, made of platforms, secret passages and cavities. The enemies are numerous and aggressive, contributing to the sustained pace and the ambient tension. You must find and master more and more varied complementary skills to unlock previously inaccessible passages and areas. It is therefore important to get your bearings in this 2D universe whose arteries intertwine, because you will have to retrace your steps and solve puzzles related to the environment! To do this, the highlighted map, which is revealed as you pass, will be very useful to you; it also indicates some hidden objects.
The planet is subdivided into zones offering very different environments, a laboratory, an underground forest or a cave filled with water, each loaded with an immersive and disturbing atmosphere. You start deep in the planet: will you reach the surface?
Play as a Samus Aran more agile and powerful than ever
Samus' mobility and alertness will go a long way in helping you escape the terrible threats that will stand in your way. Slide on the ground, jump from platform to platform, roll into a morphing ball to squeeze through a narrow passage and, of course, shoot your enemies thanks to the 360 ° aim of your cannon! As you go, all these actions will no longer hold any secrets for you and you will go through the bowels of ZDR at full speed.
Master its iconic actions, such as its counterattack, which, if well placed, can offer you an opening for a devastating attack, or its spectral camouflage, to make you undetectable by E.M.M.I. radars. As you win, your arsenal will become more and more diverse with bombs, new armor, and more firepower.
Collect maximum ammo and supplies for your stamina gauge. Some items give you handy temporary speed or resistance bonuses
Ready to face formidable enemies
The bowels of this world are full of creatures: flying, crawling or slipping against the wall, they are of all types and have a particular attack pattern that you will need to know to eliminate them as quickly as possible. Don't just dodge them because you will need the ammo they leave behind as rewards
Some corridors are watched by the terrible E.M.M.I: they patrol with their blue radar and the slightest noise will attract their attention. If you are spotted, you must flee, use your spectral camouflage, or unleash a salvo from the only weapon capable of shooting them down ... it's up to you to find out.
At the end of each zone, a boss awaits you in a closed room, each requiring the specific use of a newly acquired weapon to reach its weak point. Punctually in the fight, and without transition, cutscenes are launched to trigger decisive attacks for your victory.
