Policenauts (ポ リ ス ノ ー ツ) is an adventure video game designed by Hideo Kojima, developed and published by Konami, released in 1994 on NEC PC-98. The game was adapted for 3DO in 1995 and for PlayStation and Saturn in 1996.

The history of the POLICENAUTS

2010. End of construction of BEYOND COAST, the first space colony in human history.

Mankind began its large-scale evolution in space.

Three years later, the citizens of Earth began their emigration to the colony, and five specially trained police officers were chosen to enforce the law among the Beyondians:

- Gates Becker of Scotland Yard in Great Britain;

- Joseph Sadaoki Tokugawa of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Bureau, Japan;

- Salvatore Toscanini of the New York City Police;

- And finally, Jonathan Ingram and Ed Brown of the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department).

All those who have been chosen from all the police forces of the earth, are called POLICENAUTS - police astronauts, with the power to enforce the law.

In 2013, shortly after joining the Policenauts, an unexpected crash struck an EMPS (Police Exoskeleton Suits Designed for Tasks Outside of the Beyond Coast Colony) during its space test run!

Jonathan, the pilot, was then declared lost.

Twenty-five years later, he who was lost and adrift at the frontiers of space, was miraculously rescued, and he returned to earth alive.

In 2040, in a filthy part of OLD L.A. (old Los Angeles), Jonathan Ingram spends his days alone as a private investigator who is most of the time a negotiator (who negotiates with the kidnappers).

… Lorraine, his divorced ex-wife who is now 55, visits him.

She tells him that her second husband, Kenzo Hojo, has disappeared.

Kenzo Hojo is a senior engineer who works for the Tokugawa Pharmaceutical Company in Beyond Coast.

The clues he left contain a cut sheet, medicine capsules and a strange word, "Pluto" ...

In front of Jonathan who is reluctant to accept his request, Lorraine is murdered by someone!

He discovers “white blood”, which makes one think of a kind of synthetic blood, left at the scene of the crime.

So Jonathan leaves for Beyond in "space" once again to search for the truth behind this crime.

Who is guilty ? Where is Hojo?
