at the start of 1994, when its console began to slow down (technically speaking) with respect to the Super Famicom, Nec launched the Arcade System Card! And there, that changes everything ... Indeed, this "add-on" boosts the RAM of the PC-Engine. So, whereas the information was previously loaded 2 by 2 by the buffer memory to the console, it is now 18 by 18!
A game stage can contain a lot more information, that is to say more finesse and complexity in graphics or animation. Programmers are less constrained by concerns like "I'm not going to make characters too big or I'll run out of room for sets," they can go wild and do the best they can.
Result: conversions of NeoGeo games on PC-Engine, unimaginable without Arcade Card, become possible and allow themselves the luxury of being sumptuous, sometimes much better than their 16 Bit counterparts. Incredible for a console born in 1987
